Beach house in Vila Cha, seaside fishing village about 20km north of Porto. Excellent beach and range of local shops, bars and restaurants. Porto and large resorts of Vila do Conde or Povoa de Varzim (15km further north) easily accessible by car or bus.
Halfway up a small cobbled street is an unobtrusive door leading into a small courtyard and then to one of the most artful conversions we have ever seen. The result is a superb cottage with large, private terrace right over the beach, complete with gate and ladder to scale the few feet down to the sand.
Entrance lobby leads to small galley kitchen, extremely well done with hob, electric oven, microwave and even a dishwasher. Through sliding screen into living/dining area with dining table, seating, bar, fireplace with woodburner, wood burning barbecue/oven, TV, music system (CDs, no cassettes). Corridor off living area has ingenious sliding partitions providing extra WC and separate laundry room with small washing machine and water heater. Small double bedroom with fitted wardrobes and door to entrance lobby. Second, larger double bedroom with fitted wardrobes and doors to front courtyard. Excellent bathroom with shower cabinet. Sliding doors from living/dining room to large terrace with barbecue, eating area, cold water shower and access through safety gate to beach via ladder. Terrace is about 10 x 5m with walls each side so quite private.
Linen and towels (except beach/pool towels) provided. Maid service and linen/towel change weekly. Street parking outside house. Ideal for beach holiday or as base for exploring coast and countryside hereabouts. Central heating so good for winter holidays too. Small children with care on terrace please. Saturday arrival preferred 1600, depart 1000. Other days by arrangement. Minimum booking 3 nights (7 July/August).
